David Fialkow
Newton, Massachusetts
First PMC: 1987
"Sometimes I see the world a little differently," says David
Fialkow, entrepreneur, triathlete, and venture capitalist.
"And I guess I don't have enough impulse control not to follow
my instincts." Born and raised in Newton, Fialkow's impulses
led him to the helm of a successful travel company, then to
a technical processing firm, then to a cruise ship service,
and, most recently, to help found a high technology venture
capital company in 2001. Fialkow acknowledges that impulse
needs a strong, stable base in order to take shape; he finds
that base in close family and trusted friends. "I live two
miles from where I grew up. I married the girl I fell in love
with when I was 19. I have dinner with my parents every Sunday
night," says Fialkow. "Of course it's important to think creatively
and to take risks. But my strength comes from living and working
with the people with whom I'm close."
"Often wrong, never in doubt."
