Kate Leavey

Kate Leavey grew up singing, in church choirs, in school
musicals, and on Sunday evenings at home when her parents
let Kate and her siblings choose whatever music they wanted
to sing and dance to after dinner. "Since as long as I can
remember, I've always felt comfortable in music," says Leavey,
who met her husband Steve, a former trumpeter, while playing
in the same jazz band at Boston College. "And especially in
sacred music." A former Connecticut high school discuss champion.
Leavey worked at her alma mater for many years as director
of music and liturgy for campus ministry, and still runs the
children's choir at St. Linus in Natick. She hopes her three
children will learn to share the joy that she and her husband
both find in song. "They don't need to grow up to be musicians,"
she says. "But I would love for them to love it like I do."
